Trucks and SUVs are built with "rake", a term that means the front of the vehicle is lower than the rear. The reasons for this is to improve fuel economy and have them sit level when having a load on the rear. Leveling kits are usually very simple modifications that make your vehicle sit level when not under load. Usually these are 2 1/2 inches or less.

Lift kits are major suspension modifications that are installed to give you the ability to put larger tires on the vehicle to increase ground clearance so that you can go where other trucks fail to go. Not all lift kits are the same, with some being just for show, while others can take just about any abuse thrown at it.
